We now provide Gluten-free Fish and Chips (Monday - Wednesday only) on request for those who haven't been able to enjoy the pleasures of our national dish due to the wheat protein content in regular batters. We can do so for both take-away and restaurant customers, but do require a phone call up to 30 minutes prior in order to freshly prepare the batter and let it rest. This service is of particular interest to Coeliac sufferers who represent an amazing 1 in 300 people in the UK with the condition.
We cook our products in pure groundnut (peanut) oil; a premium, expensive oil which we feel produces the best product and is low in saturated (harmful) fats. See our nutrition information. For those who have peanut allergy concerns a Ministry of Agriculture inquiry said in relation to eating food cooked in groundnut oil “there is no danger arising as it is the protein in the nut that causes the problem which is burnt off during the refining process.”
